CRAZY TUESDAY elected for EPPIE Nomination

Ann Arbor, November 24th 2009

PIVTR's 'CRAZY TUESDAY' show is nominated for the prestigious EPIC "Friend of e-Publishing" Award.

Electronically Published Internet Connection (EPIC) President, Brenna Lyons says:

"Rowena (Cherry) has been an anti-piracy advocate for many years. She's former indie/e and currently working in NY, with e-books there. Unlike some people who make the leap, Rowena is fiercely protective of all facets of the industry, including indie. She oversees 9 blogs, several of which address anti-piracy and e-publishing issues. She's also been instrumental in starting and maintaining several anti-piracy groups, including Charlee Boyett-Compo's AuthorsAgainstE-BookTheft Yahoogroup, and supports still more. She's used her radio show to do shows on things like anti-piracy, copyright, and authors helping authors, which not only helps the industry but EPIC, as well. Rowena has wonderful contacts in the industry and is often sought for quotes and interviews, which she refers to EPIC in often. She's one of our biggest supporters, and she's certainly doing her all to support the industry. Most recently, she was quoted at the FCC hearings on net neutrality, on the subject of protecting our copyrights in a digital society. Overall, I think we could do MUCH worse for a nominee.

Brenna"

EPIC members are voting now for one of three nominees. The nominees are Crazy Tuesday, hosted by Rowena Cherry, ARe (Lori and Barb) and Baen Webscriptions (Arnold Bailey). Awards will be announced in March 2010 at the EPIC annual convention EPICon.

Lillian Cauldwell is an author of one award-winning nonfiction book, "Teenagers! A Bewildered Parent's Guide." She writes multi-cultural paranormal mysteries for mid teens (9 to 14 years) and mentors junior and senior high school students to write their first books. http://lilliancauldwell.com and http://internetvoicesradio.com.

28 Days Later

28 Days Later
The Brown Bookshelf is now accepting submissions for our 3rd Annual 28 DAYS LATER.
During the twenty-eight days of Black History Month, we’ll profile a different children’s or young adult author and children’s illustrator. On March 1st, we’ll announce the winner of our grand prize–a gift basket featuring every book profiled during the month, donated to a library in need!
We need your help. We’re looking for the best new and unnoticed works by African-American authors. From picture books to novels, books fresh off the presses to those that have lurked in the background unsung for months or years–whatever books you like, we want to know. We’re specifically looking for new books and books that have “flown under the radar,” that are children’s or Young Adult written by an African-American author published by a traditional publisher for the trade market.

Nominations accepted from September 28th to November 1st. Just post a comment here at the website, or email us at email@thebrownbookshelf.com. You can nominate as many books as you like. Also, check out the 2008 and 2009 28 Days Later campaigns to see who’s already had the spotlight.

So what are you waiting for? Nominate an author! And spread the word!
